Mission Statement

Our mission is to create new hope and improve the quality of life for local cancer patients and their families. Since 1965, the Cancer Society of Greenville County has provided free of charge programs, services, education, assistance and support to meet the changing medical, financial, emotional, and educational needs of cancer patients and their families in Greenville County.

Description

When you have cancer, not only do you lose your hair, which can be horrible in itself, but you can also lose your ability to work, ability to provide for your family, your health insurance, and all HOPE. Cancer is very expensive and so is the care people need to get better. We assist our patients in meeting their basic needs by providing nutritional supplements (Ensure and Pediasure for children) to ensure that those who cannot afford these supplements have the nourishment they need to stay healthy during their treatment and beyond. We also provide financial assistance to help pay for prescriptions, transportation, respite care, and household bills. Relieving some of the financial burden reduces stress and enables patients to focus on their health. We also offer medical products and supplies that they might need to help them along their journey, including prosthesis, wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, IV poles, lymphedema supplies, diapers, examination gloves, etc. Many of these items are not covered by Medicaid or Medicare or they have co-pays that are required. We also have free support groups and counseling. We offer all of these services and items for free to cancer patients in Greenville
