Mission Statement

Aha-LA's primary objective is to provide education to the underprivileged children of India, with special emphasis towards girls where substantial progress has yet to be achieved. In addition, whenever possible, Asha-LA tries to address other related is sues including health care, environment, socio-economic aspects and women's issues.

Description

Asha (meaning HOPE in Hindi and many other Indian languages) is the largest US based organization that works towards making basic education available to underprivileged childrenin India. Asha-LA is the Los Angeles chapter of Asha which was registered in October 1992 by students of the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Southern California.
