Description

Located in the heart of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, Central hosts some of the most academically talented students from across the district. Students are selected to attend Central through a competitive admissions process that includes achievement test scores, grade point average, personal essays, and teacher recommendations. Only 30 percent of the freshmen applicants are accepted.

Central graduates 98 percent of its students, over 90 percent of whom enroll in college. Of those who enroll, 83 percent re-enroll in college the following year. Central alumni include Muhammad Ali, Lenny Lyles, Woodford R. Porter, Lyman T. Johnson, and many others.
