Mission Statement

The business of the Orange County Children's Book Festival is to organize and promote a
magical, first-class family fair that features children's book authors, illustrators, publishers, and
related vendors, in a well-planned, safe, community environment; the result of which is a profitable
event for charities that inspires the love of books, the joy of reading and helps to increase literacy.

Founded in 2004, the Orange County Children's Book Festival has quickly established itself as one of the premier book festivals in the United States. The Festival,
which is held at Orange Coast College, is the only all children's book festival in California
and has grown from 5,000 attendees in 2004 to upwards of 25,000 attendees in 2008.
This one-day event features some of the top children's book authors and illustrators in the
country including celebrity authors such as Jamie Lee Curtis, author of Big Words for Little
People, Barney Saltzberg, author of Crazy Hair Day, and Robin Preiss Glasser, illustrator of the
Fancy Nancy book series. The Orange County Children's Book Festival offers a variety of fun-filled activities for the
entire family including: a main entertainment stage, storytellers, illustrators stage, a wild animal stage
and petty zoo, free train ride, face painting, games, book signings, and over 70 book sellers and
educational exhibitors.
