Seattle Midwifery School

Seattle Midwifery School (SMS) stands at the forefront of midwifery and doula education in North America. For more than 25 years, SMS has empowered women by providing a forum for women to find their voices, learn about women's health, and develop the skills to support others during pregnancy and childbirth. SMS offers nationally recognized training programs including their Midwifery Education Program, Doula Training, and Childbirth Educator Training. Since 1978, SMS has trained more than 200 midwives and 2,500 doulas. Beyond our role in education, the School promotes national and regional advocacy for midwives and doulas. Throught the years, SMS staff, faculty, students, and allumnae have played a pivotal role in the development of local and national professional organizations and public policies that support midwives and doulas.
