Mission Statement

The Sarasota Bay Estuary Program is dedicated to restoring the region’s most important natural asset - Sarasota Bay. The program strives to improve water quality, increase habitat, and enhance the area’s natural resources for the use and enjoyment by the public. Since 1989, SBEP and its partners have had a vision of Sarasota Bay with clear waters, healthy habitat, abundant wildlife, and a growing community enjoying the Bay’s resources and recreation.

Description

The Sarasota Bay Estuary Program is an intergovernmental partnership dedicated to restoring and protecting Sarasota Bay. Our partners include Sarasota and Manatee counties, cities of Sarasota and Bradenton, Town of Longboat Key, Southwest Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. SBEP is one of our nation's 28 national estuary programs.
