Mission Statement
ONDC's Goals
Increase Community Safety
Increase Housing Stability
Increase Opportunities for Family Success
ONDC's service-enriched model promotes permanent housing for low-income individuals and families by incorporating a social service system within the housing complex. The model does this by increasing accessibility to the social services needed for resident stability. Generally, the individuals and families living at these service-enriched housing complexes are low-income, and many have experienced homelessness or housing instability.
Description
Founded in 1998, Opportunity Neighborhood Development Corporation (ONDC) promotes safe and supportive affordable housing communities in the Twin Cities in two ways: by building affordable housing and providing high quality on-site support services.
Individual and family support services are provided at affordable housing complexes throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
Onsite services are free and offered to over 3,400 residents on a voluntary basis. Residents help decide what is needed in each community, and services are then developed through partnerships with ONDC, local schools, law enforcement, and other social service organizations. ONDC provides an essential bridge between private development, the public sector, non-profit service providers, and residents in order to align efforts to sustain access to housing that is not only safe and affordable, but rich in resources.
