Mission Statement

The Cetacean Society International is a nonprofit educational organization, created to provide education and action for the conservation and preservation of the Great Whales and other cetaceans, including dolphins and porpoises, as living wonders of the sea, for future generations of humankind. We summarize our purpose in the famous motto "Save The Whales" .

Description

CSI consists of a Board of Directors and four Executive Officers, a total of 18. It is this core group that meets monthly to discuss all matters and concerns regarding the wellbeing of the world's whales. It is this sore group that plans and fosters involvement in actvities regarding whales. The reach of CSI includes grants for research natilanlly and world wide, advocacy local, national and internatilal to better the condition of whales. Educaion to inform and enlighten others about issues re Whales. CSI attends the IWC at each session as an NGO observer. CSI has premeired movies re: whales, sponsored concerts, partnered in protests, lobbying, boycotts and petitions. CSI is a membership organizaton. It;s members get all the benefits of being part of the group, can participate in all activities of the group. CSI publishes the quareterly journal Whales Alive.
