Mission Statement

Founded in 2007, Project Shoestring is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit grassroots organization that had as its original idea the collecting of the still functional but discarded artifacts of wasteful consumer society and delivering them to impoverished peoples in underdeveloped societies, thus improving the lives of the most disadvantaged at minimal expense.

From this original mission, the organization has expanded its horizons to include efforts to promote quality education for the poor in the less developed world and the provision of basic services and training to the marginalized in both the developed and less developed worlds. Project Shoestring is currently active in building its programs in Mexico, India and the USA.

Description

Project Shoestring has created a program being implemented in pre-schools to provide spiritual teaching and positive affirmative thinking as their core curriculum. In addition, we teach a learning curriculum and a health and nutrition curriculum. We reinforce a great self-image that many children are lacking today. We are teaching children not only how to succeed academically but just as important we teach them how to be grateful, nurturing, thoughtful, positive and giving children. Our "Children helping Children" class allows for children to do projects and activities everyday to contribute to less fortunate children. We are teaching children at an early age the true meaning of giving back to the less fortunate and making a difference in the world.
