Mission Statement

The Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago (YWLCS) inspires urban girls to engage in rigorous college preparatory learning in a small school that is focused on math, science, and technology and that nurtures their self-confidence and challenges them to achieve.

Description

At The Young Women's Leadership Charter School, we hold the fundamental belief that all young women have the skills, tools and opportunities to develop as ethical leaders shaping their lives and the world. YWLCS's innovative approach to learning and teaching is based on four pillars that encompass the key elements of YWLCS's Whole Girl approach to education. These four pillars are academic achievement; career and college preparation; leadership development; personal and social development.

YWLCS has been successfully recruiting volunteers for the past 9 years and have found volunteerism to have a profoundly positive effect on the school and in holding our young women to the four pillar model. Our volunteers range from parents who want to share in their student's success to community activists who wish to mentor a bright young student. We welcome all and look forward to having new volunteers on board our mission!
