Mission Statement
The mission of the Washoe County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is to improve the health and safety of the citizens of Washoe County by utilizing pre-identified public health, medical and other volunteers.
We recruit, register, train, and check the credentials and backgrounds of volunteers so that they may be called-up quickly in the event of a public health emergency.
Description
The Washoe County MRC was created to increase hospital and clinic surge capacity and provide staffing for points of dispensing and alternate care sites in the event of an emergency. MRC members will also help to increase our community's level of public health preparedness through education and outreach efforts at community health fairs and other events.
In exchange for volunteering your time, you will receive public health preparedness and emergency response training. You will also receive required immunizations and annual flu shot, free of charge.
Whether you are a licensed medical practitioner, someone with clinical training and experience, or someone with no medical background but the desire to help our community prepare for and respond to a public health emergency, the Washoe County MRC welcomes your participation .
