Mission Statement

"The Flat Rock Historical Society seeks to preserve and communicate to residents and visitors the history and spirit of those who have lived in and near the City of Flat Rock from the beginning of human habitation, or its vision, to bring our community together for the enjoyment, discovery, and learning our past to create our future."

Description

We are a local historical museum campus with four historic buildings: 1896 Smith Hotel, 1873 Langs-Wagar House, 1870 Munger General Store and 1860 Stoeflet Carriage House. Volunteers are needed to assist with museum projects ranging from scanning photos to sewing historic costumes to arranging museum displays to giving school tours of the museum. We have lots of fun events like themed tea parties, ghost walks, and history themed events. There are a wide variety of ways to help at the museum while enjoying fellowship, working with historic artifacts and gaining useful experience or building your resume. Flexible hours available.
