Health Takes The Lead

In her freshman year of high school, founder Darielle Engilman became frustrated with what she saw in the community. Obesity rates in the impoverished areas of Los Angeles were still high, and not much was being done about it. Having lost her grandmother to the obesity epidemic, she decided to do something to prevent that from occurring to others. Seeing that obesity is prevalent in underserved communities, she decided to change that through education and knowledge. Now as a growing Los Angeles based nonprofit organization, Health Takes The Lead aims to reduce obesity rates and promote healthy living among low-income families through free nutritional counseling.
