Our mission is to strengthen the human/pet bond.
Kitty City, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization in the Memphis area focused on keeping cats out of municipal shelters by controlling the homeless cat population, providing companionship care, eliminating animal abuse and reducing taxpayer spending on cats being taken to municipal shelters. We provide spay and neuter assistance and work with the community to reduce the homeless cat population by and improve the quality of their lives. Animal abuse is directly tied to criminal activity and reducing the abuse will reduce criminal activity and help facilitate a better Memphis community. In the last 4 years, we have provided spay and neuter surgeries to more than 3,000 cats in the community.
Kitty City Companionship Programs provide peace of mind by enabling the elderly and disabled to enjoy a loving pet instead of it going to a shelter. We cover the cost of veterinary care since these people often are on a fixed income and can’t afford needed services. We also provide food, litter and weekly assistance.
Kitty City, Inc. was founded by concerned citizens after a colony of feral cats were found to be used as pit bull bait and formally organized in 2011. Since that time, we have spayed or neutered 880 homeless cats in the metro Memphis area and provide other aspects of rescue. Our vision for the future is a better community, free of animal abuse and all community cats have caretakers.
