Mission Statement
The goal of this project is to digitize all executive, legislative, judicial and military federal records, created during the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, which are housed in the National Archives, to be made available freely to the global community. Enabling 30 million records to be scanned and housed in one database will allow users to find related documents for their research needs, easily and spend time researching, not looking for the documents to research.
Description
The Lincoln Archives Digital Project was launched in 2002 by Karen Needles, former history teacher, educational consultant for IBM, Discovery, Turner Learning, and the Library of Congress.
There are approximately 60,000 records currently online, including newspapers, political cartoons, documents, photographs, and maps.
