Mission Statement

The mission of the East Tennessee Community Design Center is to make East Tennessee a better place to live and work by bringing design and planning assistance to communities lacking resources. We believe residents and professionals working together will create better communities by design.

Description

The purposes of the East Tennessee Community Design Center are: *To provide architectural, planning and related technical services to groups unable to obtain them otherwise. *To develop community involvement in comprehensive community planning. * To investigate new concepts in low-income housing. * To help citizens evaluate concepts and programs related to renovating neighborhoods. * To encourage and assist community economic development.Created in 1970, the East Tennessee Community Design Center is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizationthat works with community groups in urban and rural East Tennessee. The Community Design Center organizes people, ideas and resources to facilitate positive change in economically distressed and isolated communities in the region.
