Mission Statement

AsylumConnect is an incorporated nonprofit startup creating the first online, centralized database of service providers for LGBTQ asylum seekers in the U.S.

*Please note that AsylumConnect is an Internet-based initiative. (We do not have a physical office space. The address listed above in Washington DC represents the physical address of AsylumConnect's current registered agent.)

AsylumConnect was co-founded by two Penn alumni (C’15) in July 2014 to help connect LGBTQ asylum seekers in the U.S. with lifesaving resources upon their arrival in the U.S. Since its founding, AsylumConnect has received recognition and support from a wide range of organizations including the United Nations, the Forbes Under 30 community, Business Today, New York University (NYU), the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), and the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs for the City of Seattle.

The AsylumConnect catalog will allow asylum seekers to search for verified resources in their city by type of service. The catalog currently includes medical services, legal services, social services, educational services, community support, mental health services, and other services (mail, sport & entertainment).

AsylumConnect initially piloted the AsylumConnect catalog in Seattle, Washington and in February 2016, AsylumConnect released the catalog 2.0 , with new search functions and improved visuals for the Seattle area. AsylumConnect is currently working to improve the catalog in Seattle as well as preparing to scale the catalog to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
