Mission Statement
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Description
Founded in Massillon in 1885, The Salvation Army works to provide emergency services, including rent, mortgage, utilities, food and clothing to the residents of western Stark County. Seasonal programs include back to school supplies, Thanksgiving Day fellowship and Christmas gifts and food. A lunchtime hot meal is served every Friday. The Salvation Army of Massillon also offers youth character building classes, adult living skills classes, bible study, worship services and more.
