Read Ahead’s reading-based mentoring develops in students the social-emotional skills essential for academic and life-long success.

Description

Read Ahead matches mentors who come from over 45 partner organizations with children at 15 public schools in NYC. Volunteers who join Read Ahead’s reading-based mentoring program mentor and read one-on-one with the same mentee at an elementary school near their office for the duration of the school year. Mentors commit to one lunch hour each week or every other week from October - June to build a relationship with the same child throughout the school year.
