Mission Statement

NoResolve.org's mission is to reduce youth suicides by educating teens about the warning signs of depression and suicidal behavior and to serve as a bridge to help, hope and available resources.

Description

Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people ages 10 to 24 and we believe that education is the best path to prevention. With the collaboration of mental health professionals in our community, we have developed a powerful and unique assembly-style presentation for middle schools and high schools.

NoResolve.org started with a song. When Dennis Liegghio was 14 years old he lost his father to suicide. For the next ten years, he blamed himself for his Dad's death. Dennis struggled with depression, substance and alcohol abuse, never believing he would make it to his 25th birthday. In 2001, ten years after losing his father, he wrote and composed the song No Resolve, which finally opened the doors for him to begin healing the anger and sadness that had held him back for so long.

Discussing this personal story with teens and combining it with facts, statistics, warning signs and what to do in crisis is the basis for our presentations. Songs are performed, questions are answered and a message of hope is reinforced. Hope that help exists, and that people really do care, and that we are NOT alone out there, even if it sometimes feels that way.
