Mission Statement
Founded in 1988, the Shelter of Hope, Inc. is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization located in Ashland, Kentucky. Our mission is to provide temporary, emergency shelter and food for veterans, families and individuals who are homeless or at -risk of being homeless in Boyd, Carter and Greenup County.
Description
The Shelter of Hope provides the following services and programs for families, individuals and veterans who are homeless or at risk of being homeless:
Temporary Emergency Housing - 10 fully-furnished 1 & 2 bedroom apartments (one handicapped and one dedicated for Veterans). In-house residents receive assistance with food, household furnishings, hygiene items and cleaning supplies.
HOME TBRA for Boyd & Greenup Counties - "Tenant-based Rental Assistance" - that supplements a household’s rent (up to a maximum of 2 years) until Section 8 (HUD) vouchers are approved.
"Rapid Re-Housing"- offers eligible homeless individuals and families assistance to locate housing, security/utility deposit assistance, and rent assistance and ongoing case management.
"Prevention" - assists "At-Risk" individuals with casework, housing referrals, deposits, rent assistance as needed.
Hope Self-Help Housing - a Continuum of Care Permanent Supportive Housing program providing housing in five leased units for homeless, disabled veterans, or chronically homeless individuals and families.
