Mission Statement

The mission of Community Youth Outreach (CYO) is to offer the underserved population of children, youth, and adults in the community, opportunities to refine their lives in regards to health & social behavior, economic development, and esteem for self and the community.

Description

Community Youth Outreach a non-profit organization founded by Quayle UMC in 2002, is concerned about the growth of our community; the condition of the mind and behavior of a percentage of people who lack opportunity because of their environment, education, social behavior which is mostly due to being a part of the underserved population on the NE side of Oklahoma City. These issues lead to other problems in our community which concerns us even more. Such issues are: high drug addition, computer illiteracy, and the alarming rate of people living with either high or low blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, cancer, lupus and asthma (especially among children). Many of these areas CYO is targeting with innovative programming and projects like social and economic behavior, life skills, health & wellness, computers & technology and others for children, youth, adults and senior citizens. CYO is also open to individuals beyond our community boundaries, however because we are located in what is considered an at-risk neighborhood, our main focus is serving those in our community who would benefit tremendously from our programs. CYO was goal is to enhance the body, mind and soul of all ages, from children to senior citizens, however our key focus are on children and youth. CYO recognizes the moral power needed for individuals in our community young and old to have a "change in attitude". To acquire leadership responsibilities, celebrate our cultural inheritance, and to spiritually unite working towards reducing ongoing social disparities. CYO has been dedicated for the past six years (and will continue to do so) to offering the underserved community population of children, youth, youth-at-risk, adults and senior citizens programs and activities to expand and refine their lives regarding: health & social behavior, economic development and increasing their self-esteem.
