Mentoring Works2 is a comprehensive mentoring service program that incorporates a variety of mentoring strategies to teach kids to achieve goals, build relationships, and develop confidence. We are dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk, inner city youth through mentorship, education, and training. Mentoring Works2 works to transmit positive, life changing messages of and purpose to targeted youth through group and one-on-one interactions with dedicated mentors and role models who believe passionately in the promise of our youth.
Established in June of 2006 in Washington D.C., Mentoring Works2, Inc. ("MW2") is a community based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to transforming the lives of at risk, inner-city youth through a mentoring program that matches vetted, trained adults with youth in need and offers a safe location for tutoring, mentoring and social engagement. Through weekly community dialogue with parents, youth, local police and community leaders, MW2 assesses the needs of the Shaw/Columbia Heights neighborhood and creates specific youth mentoring programs to address these needs.
A positive, encouraging and practical approach to issues such as academic success, substance use, conflict resolution, money management, physical and mental health, and community service are promoted through one-on-one interactions and regular gatherings at MW2. MW2 offers a safe haven for youth to congregate after school and during the summer, participating in tutoring, workshops, and field trips and to relaxing in a community that has scant locations for teens to gather and where low-income kids rarely venture beyond a 3-mile radius.
