Mission Statement

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children.

Description

Ronald McDonald House Charities, a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation, creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Its grassroots-driven programs offer help where children need it most - right in their own communities. RMHC makes an immediate, positive impact on children's lives through its global network of local Chapters in 52 countries and regions and its three core programs: the Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. These programs provide a bridge to accessible health care and allow families more time together, which helps in the healing process. RMHC and its global network of local Chapters also have hundreds of millions of dollars in grants and program services to children's programs around the world.

I volunteered here for several years, and while the mission of the organization is great, the management made the experience frustrating and unwelcoming. Instead of supporting volunteers, they overburden efficient workers, pile on unnecessary busywork, and micromanage in ways that make you feel like a problem. If you have health issues and can't use the bathroom in under 5 minutes, then this is definitely not the place for you. They also struggle to retain volunteers, and after seeing how they treat people, I understand why. If you’re looking for a fulfilling volunteer experience, I’d strongly recommend finding another organization that respects and values your time. I have volunteered for almost 2 decades now and have never had an experience like this where I was criticized for no valid reason. I feel like these Christian women would find problems with Jesus himself if he returned and started volunteering here. The only redeeming quality here is that the families were great to meet.
