Mission Statement

Mountaineer Food Bank, a private, non-profit organization, was founded in 1981 as the result of the efforts of an anti-hunger coalition. These caring people were operating feeding programs in West Virginia, and they were looking for ways to feed more people with their funds. MISSION STATEMENT: Mountaineer Food Bank's mission is to help alleviate hunger in West Virginia.

Description

Mountaineer Food Bank receives donations of foods and other products from national companies throughout the United States. Much of the perfectly wholesome food manufactured in this country cannot be sold. Reasons include overproduction, mislabeling and minor damage. The Food Bank taps into these otherwise wasted resources. Companies located in West Virginia also make donations of foods and other products. Food Bank product is donated by manufacturers, wholesalers, farmers, retailers, distributors, local food drives and individuals.
