Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Builders of Tomorrow is a youth leadership program focused on academic achievement, leadership and community engagement for middle school students at risk of dropping out of school. The mission of Builders of Tomorrow is to improve academic achievement and high school graduation rates among participating middle school students. The goals are to engage youth participants in school and community activities with a focus on building a capacity for leadershipand civic involvement, and expose participants to potential career and educational opportunities.
To achieve the best outcomes, we involved youth, educators, youth development specialists, community leaders and our partners. To achieve the desired outcomes, the following two components were designed to help meet our goals. Tutoring: Highly qualified tutors work in the schools 15 to 20 hours per week. Tutoring is one on one, small groups, or in the classroom. Youth Leadership & Team Building: Youth participants will learn the value of team work, techniques to work with others, the different leadership styles and which type leadership style applies to them. We have a strong community element that has students participating in service learning projects that teach civic and community involvement, while meeting SC Department of Education curriculum standards. Teachers, school district personnel and students will identify the appropriate standards to be addressed during the service learning project. Teachers will monitor and reinforce this learning in the class room.
