The Global Partnerships Forum is a unique 501(c)(3) not-for-profit knowledge platform, providing changemakers with the tools to build innovative partnerships. It convenes thought leaders, policy makers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and investors to address global challenges, and foster economic growth by moving the needle from aid to investment. In 1997, when Ted Turner committed US$1 billion to support UN causes, it became clear that the needs of the underprivileged could not be addressed unilaterally, but require multi-level collaboration to achieve positive social change. The GPF assists in creating Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships, utilizing the leadership role of the public and private sectors, and successful delivery mechanisms of civil society, to encourage investments for social good and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The GPF supports the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, working with UN Departments, Agencies, Funds and Programmes. It has a strategic partnership with UN Women, to advance their overall mission for gender equality and women’s empowerment (SDG 5) through a variety of initiatives, including Planet 50-50 by 2030, the HeForShe Campaign and others.
Flagship programmes, include the Pearl Initiative, a CEO-led organization to create a greater culture of transparency and accountability in the Middle East. It also serves as a hub for the Ocean Sanctuary Alliance, a multi-stakeholder partnership of governments, academia, private sector and civil society, to support SDG 14.
The GPF has a strategic alliance with the Liechtenstein Foundation for State Governance, whose mission is to strengthen national capacities through public education, financial reform, and transfer of knowledge - to further the SDGs. The GPF has a collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to support the UN’s agenda.
