Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The mission of The Volunteer Connection is to mobilize volunteers to address community needs, concurrently assuring an enriching experience for the volunteer.
The Volunteer Connection serves a very broad range of community needs through the approximately 90 agencies, etc., to which volunteers are referred each year. The Volunteer Connection thus augments the services provided by other agencies through provision of volunteer "manpower".
RSVP provides some direct services to volunteers age 55+, e.g., volunteer-related transportation, accident and liability insurance coverage, etc. RSVP also addresses the need for retired persons to remain active, productive members of the community and for the community to utilize the skills and experience of its older citizens.
The Youth Volunteer Corps targets youth ages 11 - 18, who perform group community service projects planned and led by members of a Youth Advisory Council, as well as providing opportunities and recognition for individual youth's volunteer service.
Individual volunteers of all other ages, as well as groups of all types: business, church, civic organization, school, etc. are registered and referred to volunteer opportunities which meet their interest and skills, as well. The Volunteer Connection also recruits and supports volunteers to provide services for disabled and specially challenged individuals whose needs cannot be met by local social service agencies, e.g., respite, telephone reassurance and friendly visitors for isolated individuals, transportation to medical and other services, light housekeeping or chore services, shopping assistance, financial management assistance, etc.
