Mission Statement
The purpose of THE BAAKARI FOUNDATION, INC. is simple... to strive to make the world a better place for all creatures... including man. It is hoped that the iconic figure of Baakari, the Bull African Elephant, and the wisdom, compassion, and concern he brings to the global society may help sway public opinion, motivate individuals to assist in foundation endeavors, educate people from all walks of life who have yet to learn their power of choice can bear local and global change, and to bring attention to pressing environmental, domestic, and wild animal issues that affect us all.
Description
Baakari, the Bull African Elephant, may be a fictional character, but what he stands for and what The Baakari Foundation, Inc. does is real.
Education and Awareness program.
Under the Education and Awareness Program, The Baakari Foundation produces public service announcements, documentary films, and web content that educates the public. Topics will include all aspects of domestic animal and wildlife education, awareness and protection.
Part of the Foundation's long term plans include building specialty Sanctuaries and Rescues.
Under The Baakari Foundation's Endangered Land Acquisition Program, the Foundation will identify lands throughout the world where animals are considered at risk, threatened, or endangered and acquire the property for wildlife refuges. In addition, the Foundation will locate and identify a facility to provide a sanctuary for retired or abused exotic or circus animals that the present owners no longer want either due to the animal's age or the animal's health issues. Animals will be provided food, natural habitat shelter, and veterinary care. Due to the wild nature of these animals, they will not be available for adoption.
The Baakari Foundation also supports outside non-profits that further the foundation's causes through our Charitable Giving Campaign.
Foundation distributions under the Charitable Giving Campaign are directed specifically to organizations such as animal rescues/sanctuaries and humanitarian aide organizations. The Board of Directors identifies and selects suitable recipient organizations.
