Mission Statement

The mission of BraveHeart Volunteer Support Teams is to provide individuals with the support they need to cope with illness, disability or death. Whether assisting an adult living with a terminal illness, a senior struggling to maintain self-sufficiency, or a child grieving the loss of a loved one, BraveHeart provides families with support and guidance from responsible, compassionate volunteers.

Description

BraveHeart (formerly known as Hospice Suburban South) is a community-based, volunteer, not-for-profit organization that has been serving the Chicago South Suburban community since 1979. BraveHeart offers trained volunteers to support individuals who are homebound, elderly or disabled. Examples of our services include: friendly visits; caregiver relief and support; odd jobs and errands; pastoral care; nutritional support. Our four (4) program areas are: Community Service (for the homebound, elderly or disabled), Hospice Service (special care in the final phase of life), Children's Grief Support (for children who have experienced loss through death), and Kids Who Care (matching up kids and their families with people who would benefit from a helping hand). Professionals available to assist our volunteer teams include: Medical Director, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Pastoral Advistors, Nutritional Advisors, Bereavement Advisors.
