Description

The Balcones Canyonlands Preserve (BCP) protects more than 30,000 acres in western Travis County, and is home to eight endangered species. The BCP is co-managed by Travis County, the City of Austin, and a number of public and private partners. This profile is for the Travis County BCP, which is managed by the Natural Resources Program in the Transportation & Natural Resources Department.

Many areas of the preserve are open to the public, including popular destinations such as Hamilton Pool, the Barton Creek Greenbelt and Wild Basin. Other areas are accessible through guided hikes and volunteer activities.
