Mission Statement

Our mission is to utilize un-schooling methods and community resources to develop life-long learners who value community, education, and culture.

Description

Adinkra NOLA accomplishes its mission in several ways: (1) We operate a full-time private Home School program that supports learners and families freom ages pre-k 3 to 12, (2) we offer a free after-school program for neighborhood youth, (3) throughout the year, we offer free trainings, workshops, and individual support to families who are independently home schooling, and (4) we are partnered with more than 40 local organizations as we develop network of home-study/un-schooling resources.

In its fifth year, Adinkra NOLA continues to educate youth who are not properly served by the public education system. Many have dealt with bullying, overwhelmed teachers who can't give them the help they need, and outdated teaching styles that don't adress the ways in which children learn. Their parents are frustrated because they have to work or don't feel qualified to prepare their children for the demands of higher education. Through our educational programs and trainings, we are able to support learning communities and families who need a different approach.
