To collect, preserve and interpret historical materials and artifacts encompassing life and history of the City of Freeport and surrounding area, being a portion of the original colonization and settlement of the State of Texas.

Description

The current project of the society is the restoration and preservation of the historic Schuster House (built in 1917) and it's contents. The Schuster House will be a house / museum to showcase the history of the City of Freeport and surrounding area. The Brazos Historical Society is in the process of restoration of the Schuster House and cataloging the contents of the home which contains all the original Schuster family household items. Many donated items concerning the history of Freeport and surrounding area are also being cataloged and set up for display in the home / museum. Our goal is to have the home/museum open to the public on a regular basis.
