Description

Madison Area Care for the Homeless (MACH) OneHealth aims to assess inequities in health care provision and support to marginalized populations, namely our community members who are experiencing homelessness.

The OneHealth model informs our practice: One Health recognizes the complex interrelationships that exist between people, animals and the environment as they interact in an era of globalization. One Health encourages a holistic,ecosystem-based approach to human, animal and environmental health.

Our activities since organization inception in the fall of 2015 include:

*performing a client survey and community needs assessment to ascertain gaps in service and care

*running monthly free foot care clinics with a volunteer crew of podiatrists, nurses, and others

*responding to immediate needs on the street for triage and advisement regarding acute and chronic health issues

*developing as an organization by adopting a sociocratic governance structure, working toward 501(c)3 status, and building volunteer capacity
