Description

NAMI Franklin County was founded in 1987 by a group of eight family members--including one psychiatrist--who wanted to improve the mental health services available to their loves ones.

Today, as a local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and NAMI Ohio, NAMI Franklin County is dedicated to improving the lives of family members, friends and persons with mental illness through education, outreach, support, referral and advocacy in Central Ohio.

We ...
  • Provide local support for families encountering severe mental illness, offering help and hope whenever and wherever we can;
  • Advocate for optimal treatment and services from local providers to improve the quality of life for consumers and their families;
  • Increase community awareness of brain disorders by educating people in the community, challenging negative stereotypes, and confronting discrimination.

NAMI also supports research on the causes and treatments of mental illness, and monitors local services to help improve treatment outcomes.

As a grassroots, non-profit organization, NAMI Franklin County depends on contributions from our members to operate. We have always been volunteer-run, and all members of our board volunteer their time and service to help NAMI Franklin County achieve our mission and continue to serve as your voice on mental illness in Franklin County.
