A growing non-profit organization is seeking a Volunteer Social Media Wizard to grow our presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and more. We are an all Volunteer organization, rescuing, rehabilitating and providing lifetime care for abused and neglected farm animals, located on 10 beautiful acres in Rainier, Washington (Thurston County). We are seeking a Volunteer Social Media Wizard, either on a project basis, or on-going basis, to help our Volunteer Development Director with important tasks. If you know social media, are savvy and professional, have a knack for putting great stories together, may have experience with photography and/or videography, and want to work with a kick-ass bunch of animal lovers and give back, please get in touch with us. We are looking for people that are experienced with equines and are passionate about them. Then this is for you! We have 6 adorable well-behaved miniature horses, 1 calm welsh pony, 4 opinionated donkeys and 1 mini mule that is feral (you don't have to do anything for her) that need care and exercise. Primary duties include and are not limited to the following; exercise, grooming, cleaning, preparing feed, tack management. Applicants must be able to make a six month commitment, have reliable transportation, be able to lift 50 lbs, walk for extended periods of time and work in the elements. Shifts are 2 hours in length, can be morning or afternoon. Applicants 18 and over must pass a back ground test. Equine Caregivers report to the Equine Herd Manager

If you are an organized person, love working with, coaching people and are seeking an involved volunteer position with a growing non-profit animal rescue organization, read on. Training will be provided to the right individual. The Sanctuary Volunteer Coordinator will play an integral leadership role on the Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary team, as a people manager and coach. Working with Executive Director, Kelly Lapham, your 2 major areas of responsibilities and opportunities include: Managing the 50+volunteers of the Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary volunteer team. Providing orientation and training to new volunteers. Your Commitment Minimum 1-year commitment 8 to10 hours per week with a willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the role. Work at a Farm Sanctuary can be uncertain and chaotic at times! Some of it can be done remotely as well. Be able to work several Saturdays a month for orientation and training, shifts are between 2-3 hours each. RESPONSIBILITITES Recruiting Always be in a recruiting mindset, figure out creative ways to recruit volunteers Retention Work at finding ways to recognize volunteers and create a warm, welcoming feeling where volunteers feel appreciated. Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities. Volunteer Needs Perform volunteer interviews, find their interests, and implement a program so that their needs are met. Perform annual evaluations of volunteers, this is a way to find out their level of happiness and satisfaction with BDFS, what improvements need to be made etc. Scheduling Schedule Volunteer Shifts Organizing, training and leading on-the-job training. Keeping schedules and records of volunteers' work. Communications Respond promptly to e-mails and phone calls Relay information to the Executive Director in weekly reports Collecting volunteer information, availability, skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database. Using marketing tools such as outreach programs, e-mails, and volunteer databases. Leadership Responsibilities Representing Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary at community events and with our veterinary partners. Giving occasional tours of the Sanctuary. Ensuring the organization's purpose is conveyed to the public. Qualifications Previous animal experience is desired. Management, coaching or leadership experience is desired. Excellent time management and communication skills is essential. Reliability and attention to detail is essential. Strong organizational skills: proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects is critical. Ability to utilize e-mail, excel and bonus if you have experience with access Ability to work well with variety of people. Team player is a must. Reliable and dependable. Positive attitude, heck yea! Commitment to Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary’s animal care policies and organizational programs and goals. Valid driver’s license with clean driving record. Must be able to pass a background check. Additional Experience Sought Animal Sanctuary and or non-profit experience. Experience with large animals is a giant plus. If you are a retired professional and are seeking an involved volunteer position with a growing non-profit animal rescue organization, read on. The Sanctuary Director of Operations will play an integral leadership role on the Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary team, as an experienced people manager and animal care provider. Working with Executive Director, Kelly Lapham, your 2 major areas of responsibilities and opportunities include: Managing the operations of the Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary team, (supervising 50 plus volunteers). Overseeing our animal care and rescue programs, to ensure quality life-long care for the 100 animal rescues at our highly accredited Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary in rural Rainier, Washington. Your Commitment 1-year commitment 15-20 hours per week with a willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the role. Work at a Farm Sanctuary can be uncertain and chaotic at times! Responsibilities Manage animal care and Sanctuary volunteers. Management of animal care schedules and charting, health checks, feed and supply ordering, and database. Taking on regular animal caregiver shifts. Training and supervising animal caregivers. Scheduling vet visits and animal transportation. Researching new treatment options for various conditions. Working with veterinarians to develop treatment protocols, etc. Training volunteers and mentors, insuring adherence to animal care protocols and safety. Developing, maintaining, and executing procedures and policies for safe, responsible rescue, travel, and on-site care. Expanding and overseeing intakes. Ensuring the safety and life-long care of each resident at the Sanctuary. Working with humane educators and docents to ensure the use of accurate stories and information. Develop safety and security protocols for the sanctuary and ensure these protocols are practiced by the sanctuary volunteers and communicated with visitors. Leadership Responsibilities Representing Black Dawg Farm and Sanctuary at community events and with our veterinary partners. Giving occasional tours of the Sanctuary. Assist with the Executive Director in planning for and maintaining the Sanctuary budget. Developing and maintaining positive relationships with other Sanctuaries Qualifications Previous animal experience is required. Minimum two years management experience. Minimum two years’ experience at animal care facility. Excellent time management and communication skills. Reliability and attention to detail is essential. Strong organizational skills: proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in fast-paced work environment. Ability to work well with variety of people. We are a growing and vibrant non-profit organization, dedicated to the rescue of abused and abandoned farm animals, and we are 100% run by Volunteers. We're looking for both graphic expertise, and possible video talents, to create dynamic content to help us best connect with our Followers on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube. This is a perfect opportunity for a student or professional, who loves animals, and wants to put their creative talents to work, on behalf of our mission. We would appreciate a commitment of 5 hours a week to start. If you enjoy creating content for social media and know the ins and outs of how to put together compelling content that connects our organization with animal lovers, please tell us about yourself.
