Our Mission is to help ensure the survival of Native American Families and individuals by providing quality health care and by supporting the healing process, encouraging, educating, and empowering our clients in seeking and maintaining wellness and enhancing the quality of their life, and facilitating the equality and accessibility of comprehensive health care for the Native American community.

Description

American Indian Health & Family Services of Southeastern Michigan (AIHFS) Inc., is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing comprehensive health care to the Native American community of Southeastern Michigan.

In the Anishinaabe language AIHFS is referred to as Minobinmaadziwin, which means "a good life".

The vision of wellness at Minobinmaadziwin grew out of a need for healing in the Native American community. Native people have suffered cultural deterioration, countless health crisis', and environmental contamination.

Our staff is dedicated to the physical, emotional, cultural, environmental, and spiritual health of the Native American community. We utilize the resources of our Healing Center by combining Western medical practice with traditional healing to encourage overall wellness among the people.

This organization is a wonderful place to volunteer. Everyone is friendly, open, and helpful. I have a great time with the youth group. The youth at this center are open to learning and happy to have the opportunity to come to this center to learn and share with each other and care about their community and families. I would volunteer here again anytime I am needed.
