Mission Statement
Our mission is to effectively allocate funds towards programs that benefit Santa Cruz shelter animals. Our utmost priority is reducing pet overpopulation, thus preventing unnecessary euthanasia.
Description
Our free spay/neuter program for low-income pet owners has significantly reduced the number of unplanned pregnancies and litters. Our Second Chance Fund pays medical bills for adoptable shelter animals that deserve a second chance while our Foster Family Fund assists low-income families who help foster shelter animals but need help with vet and food bills for these animals. We have been active in funding the needs of shelter animals who were confiscated during large-scale animal abuse or neglect situations. The 2008 fires in Santa Cruz prompted us to help with pet evacuation expenses and disaster preparation training for shelter staff.
