Mission Statement

Hanna4Hope, Inc. is a non-profit foundation established to bring teenage suicide, one of the leading causes of death among today’s youth, to the forefront of communities. Our mission is to educate families and community leaders on the possible signs of suicide and to provide a variety of resources for parents, teens, and community organizations. Through charitable donations, fundraisers and other community-based events, Hanna4Hope endeavors to reduce suicide’s devastating effects on the lives of our youth, their families, friends, and loved ones.

Description

Hanna4Hope actively organizes teen committees and clubs at public and private schools. Committees and clubs, led by school officials, meet monthly to focus on the many challenges faced by young people. These challenges include bullying, dating, taking tests, adverse family environments, and stresses related to college, among many others.

In turn, teen clubs organize and rally the student body, encouraging students to watch for signs of depression or abnormal sadness among peers. Peer support lets troubled teens know they are not alone and that there is help with feeling unaccepted and troubled.

Teen peers understand and communicate with each other differently than parents and teachers. Theirs is a private world and, often, adults are not allowed. Each story is different, and each young person is unique.

Our world moves so fast that our youth neither understand nor have the tools necessary to cope with the today’s ongoing challenges. Too many times, suicide is a hush-hush topic. Hanna4Hope endeavors to address teen suicide and to provide the tools and support to prevent our children from ending their lives. When teens complete suicide, families are left devastated and in despair, often experiencing shame, guilt and confusion.
