Mission Statement

Creative Outlet's mission is to present and teach dance at a high level of excellence; aiming to make dance accessible to young people and adults through training and to perform a repertory which is socially relevant and culturally rich. It seeks to reach a local, national and international audience. CO is recognized as one of New York's cultural treasures and is known for performing energetic and thought provoking dance. It perform locally, but also tours the country and the world. Through arts in education division, it nurtures young people's academic achievement by developing discipline, self confidence and learning skills.

Description

Creative Outlet has three independent divisions: 1. the Dance Theatre, a project based professional dance company that tours locally and internationally; 2. the Cultural Arts Program (CAP) - and its award winning Young Artists Program (our pre-professional troup). CAP is a Saturday-based dance and music program housed in Brooklyn public schools; 3. the Arts in Education (AiE) program, CO's most impactful city-wide dance and music residencies is delivered directly by professional reaching artists and mentors.

Since 1997, CO has sent at least 100 professional teaching artists into over 100 schools and provided arts services to over 50,000 students across New York City.
