Sacramento Valley Historical Railways is a fellowship of volunteers who are dedicated to community service and education through the preservation and operation of historic railroad equipment and structures in the Sacramento Valley.
The Sacramento Valley Historical Railways offers a hands-on opportunity to experience and learn about the railroad history of the Sacramento Valley. Established as an organization in 1982 to restore Southern Pacific steam locomotive 1233, the Sacramento Valley Historical Railways has since saved and is restoring the Historic Woodland Southern Pacific Depot which, when completed, will house a museum dedicated to the railroad history of the Sacramento Valley. Also on display at the depot are locomotive 1233, Southern Pacific caboose 1156, and Spreckels locomotive 50. Please join us in preserving our local railroad history!
