Mission Statement

Springfield Public Schools, in collaboration with parents and community, shall develop in all students the knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes to empower students to become responsible life-long learners and productive citizens in an ever-changing world. This will be accomplished in a climate that promotes high expectations, strives to meet individual needs and values diversity.

Description

Springfield District 186 serves approximately 15,000 Pre-K through 12th grade students in the state capital. The District serves learners with a wide-range of abilities and is committed to helping all children learn. Our youngest learners attend Early Start, a pre-school program for 4 and 5 year olds. Our elementary schools serve learners in grades K-5 in 25 buildings. Middle School students attend one of five schools. High school students attend one of three schools and are enrolled in classes based on ability level and goals after high school.
