Mission Statement
The mission of AHEPA National Housing Corporation is to provide affordable housing for the low-income elderly and disabled persons, and to insure that they receive the services designed to meet their physical and social needs.
Description
American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) Apartments have 4 properties located in Johnston and Ankeny housing over 200 low-income or disabled older adults. The AHEPA Apartments were founded in 1991, with a goal to improve the quality of life for the elderly by promoting their health, security, happiness, and usefulness in longer living. We believe that senior citizens should be able to live independently with dignity, even on a modest income.
As a private non-profit 501(c)(3) subsidized housing project, our sole funding comes from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Funding through HUD is very limited and as a result staff rely on entertainment, crafts, and other projects to be donated.
