Mission Statement

Rensselaer County NYSARC, Inc. is committed to advocating for the rights and safety of individuals of all ages who primarily have mental retardation and, in some instances have other developmental disabilities or delays. ARC is a source of support, specialized knowledge, and resources in assisting individuals and their families to determine their needs and goals. ARC also works to influence societal attitudes and resources so that people with mental retardation and developmental disabilities will have access to the services, assistance, and opportunities they need for personal growth and development, and participation in the community.

Description

Rensselaer County Chapter NYSARC Inc. (ARC) presently serves more than 1000 people with a total 500 dedicated employees supported by a strong network of over 300 committed volunteer board members, ARC members, parents, and other friends. Today people are supported by the ARC through its: ¨ vocational program, Riverside Enterprises (which includes a community inclusion project, a supported work program, two work centers, a supported volunteer program and a school to work transition program), provides supports to over 250 individuals. ¨ day habilitation/day treatment program, Brunswick Center Services (which includes a volunteer program, a high-bred supported work program, and a seniors program), provides supports to over 104 individuals. ¨ family supports program (which includes service coordination, a respite program, an advocacy service, family reimbursement, in-home residential supports and a child and adult recreation program), provides supports to over 250 individual and families. ¨ residential program (which includes individual living arrangements, supported and supervised individual and group homes) provides supports to over 150 individuals.
