Are you passionate about yoga, Pilates, or fitness? We need your help to end Alzheimer's on the Summer Solstice! The Alzheimer's Association San Diego/Imperial Chapter is looking for volunteers to help us with our newest national signature event, The Longest Day. We are looking for yoga, Pilates or fitness enthusiasts to join our Longest Day efforts. The Longest Day is a do-it-yourself fundraiser where you take an activity you love and turn it into an event to raise funds and awareness to help #ENDALZ. Between now and Tuesday, June 21, 2022, people across the world will do what they love, to honor those they love with Alzheimer’s. Together, we will raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Learn more at www.alz.org/TLD or contact: Sarah Granby at sgranby@alz.org for volunteer opportunities.

What is the New IDEAS Study? New IDEAS is a nationwide research study for people who have memory loss. The study is looking at a type of FDA-approved brain imaging called an amyloid PET scan. It is a safe, non-invasive test that takes pictures of the brain. New IDEAS is trying to find out if PET scan results can help guide doctors in diagnosing and treating memory conditions. It is crucial that there is diverse representation in the New IDEAS Study. Of the 7,000 participants, we are aiming for 2,000 of those participants to be Black / African American and 2,000 to be Hispanic / Latino. Together with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the American College of Radiology, and Vanderbilt University, the Alzheimer's Association is proud to be a part of this national research study. Become a Champion for the New IDEAS Study! Champions are advocates for others in their communities and are responsible for sharing study materials with those who are interested in the study. They are instrumental with making communities aware of this research study and how they can participate. From their interactions in the community, Champions inform the study team of emerging needs and interests from constituents and they leverage existing trusting relationships at the local level. Role: - Deliver participant facing materials to organizations in their area - Outreach to the community about the importance of participating in research - Work on partnering with organizations to provide education and host events to support study awareness and New IDEAS study enrollment - Communicate with UNC engagement specialists to enhance and support additional activities - Attend mandatory Champion Training Sessions - Must be local to the San Diego and Imperial area - Must be over 21 years of age
