Our Mission The Capital City Black Film Festival exists to provide emerging and established independent filmmakers from around the world an opportunity to showcase their work in "one of the best places to live and work as a moviemaker" (according to MovieMaker Magazine) - Austin, Texas. CCBFF presents programming that celebrates and showcases films that are written, directed or produced by African American filmmakers, films which prominently feature African American actors or films that address topics and issues relating to the Black community. CCBFF offers year-round programming for filmmakers and film lovers alike, including screenings, networking, educational workshops and special events. CCBFF also educates filmmakers on the vast resources available to them in Austin and in Texas. CCBFF's fiscal sponsor is Black Film Collective.
An envied hotbed of technological start-ups and a live music persona renowned the world over, Austin has welcomed its next chapter in the entertainment industry: the Capital City Black Film Festival.
Capital City Black Film Festival is a Texas film festival based in Austin, the Capital of Texas. The festival’s goal is to bring together talented African Americans involved in media and the film industry.
In 2013, CCBFF kicked off its inaugural year with a two-day screening of independent films expressing the African American experience. In 2014, we staged an even bigger and better event, reaching minds and hearts beyond the U.S. In 2015, we expanded CCBFF's reach with year-round events and opportunities to experience the brilliant works of black artists and filmmakers across the globe. With household names such as ACL, SXSW and Urban Music Festival in its annual calendar, Austin now includes CCBFF on the city’s list of annual premiere events.
