Mission Statement

The Juvenile Justice Commission is mandated by the State of California to inspect juvenile facilities (i.e. juvenile halls, ranches / camps and group homes) in the City and County of San Francisco. It is also the duty of the Commission to: "inquire into the administration of Juvenile Court Law" as applied in San Francisco, and publish inspection findings to the Presiding Judge of the Unified Family Court, Juvenile Chief Probation Officer, Corrections Standards Authority and /or the State Department of Social Services. The Commission may also hold public hearings, require testimony at those hearings and request subpoenas as necessary.

Description

Juvenile Justice Commission Requirements: Candidates must be San Francisco residents, interested in examining juvenile justice issues (including dependency), and able to volunteer approximately twenty (20) hours per month. Employees of the San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department will not be considered.
