Description

The club is an American Radio Relay League Special Service Club, primarily dedicated to providing emergency communications in time of disaster. The club also supports the mission of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), which consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in public service when disaster strikes. We work closely with local County Emergency Services, the American Red Cross, and the National Weather Services in Ruskin, State of Florida, and the Florida Division of Forestry.

The SERC has assisted several local disaster relief operations over the past 32 years. The club members operate as support for ESF-2 and provide emergency communications in shelters and disaster operation centers. Club members also participate in local public service events, like the Sarasota Marathon and the Tour de Cure bicycle race.
