Mission Statement

VOLUNTEER TO BUILD PLAYGROUNDS!

Please volunteer to use your energy creatively and get involved in the Hopewell Borough Playground Project! The architectural design of this new community playground uses drawings, essays, and suggestions from students all over the county who were asked their ideas of "dream playgrounds." Now we need your help to build it! Together, we can create safe, environmentally friendly, child-inspired, community-built playgrounds for all to enjoy! Like an old fashioned barn-raising, the new playgrounds will be built on June 17-21, 2009. We will need a total of over 750 community volunteers of all ages and skill-levels to work side-by-side and build a lasting product for our community.

Description

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Sign up with your friends, families and colleagues to have an amazing volunteer experience - you can work on technical features and graphic design, materials preparation, and building. No construction skills are necessary, and all special talents can be utilized! If you are interested in recruiting your families and friends: Students age 10 - 13 can work on-site with a parent. Ages 14 and up can work independently. Childcare will be provided for kids 9 and under.

Sign up individually online at www.hopewellplayground.com to tell us when you are available! Coordinate with your friends, colleagues and neighbors so that you can all work the same shifts. We guarantee an incredible team-building experience that will foster new friendships, great memories, and a lasting product of great value to our community.

• If you are so inclined, a club or group can always coordinate to leave your mark on this project by fundraising for a component part - slides, swings, tree fort, castle, train and more - and actually building it yourselves! You can sponsor fundraising events, work with the Playground committee to prepare the materials and carry out the construction. The component can bear your group's name to mark your important contribution.

Please contact Rachel Riedl, Volunteer Coordinator, at rbeatty@princeton.edu or 609 356 4999 if you have any questions or would like to coordinate a group shift. We look forward to working with you on this unique and exciting project.

No construction skills are necessary, and all special talents can be utilized! Everyone is welcome: Kids age 10 - 13 can work on-site with a parent. Ages 14 and up can work independently. Childcare will be provided for kids 9 and under (who will do 'design' work in the arts tent, etc).
