Mission Statement

"The Mission of the Urban Park Rangers is to link New Yorkers to the natural world, teach them to care for their parks, defend the parks and their wild residents, and restore New York's natural heritage."

As part of our Mission, we- the Urban Park Rangers- operate various Nature Centers throughout the five boroughs of NYC. Our Centers host (for example) educational programming, events, lectures, nature hikes, birding, nature camps for children, canoeing, planting and restoration.

Description

Greet park patrons at reception desk in a Nature Center. Have patrons sign guest book and answer basic questions about the center and programming.

Could include answering phones and easy office work tasks, but only if volunteer is comfortable in doing so. Volunteer would interact with various types of people of all ages and backgrounds.
